An Investigation On The Contributions Of Women Farmers To Agriculture
This research was carried out to investigate the contributions of women farmers to agricultural development in Benue State. Women are involved in the agricultural activities in Benue State, but there is no empirical investigation of the extent of their contributions. Because of this background, this study is undertaken to empirically access the contributions of women farmers to agricultural development in Benue State. This study was guided by research questions which include: what are the contributions of women in farming/livestock activities to agricultural development, what are the major challenges to women involved in agricultural development. The objectives of the study include: examining the contributions of women in farming/livestock activities to agricultural development, identifying the major challenges to women involved in agricultural development. The theory adopted for this study was functionalism theory. The research design for this study is survey. The population for the study comprises of all women farmers who are 18years and above. The sample size of the study is 400 and this sample was derived from Taro Yamen's Formula.
