The story of Evangeline was written in 1847 as a tragedy by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, but this story sets the record straight as to what actually happened, using period diaries, letters and other archival materials as the basis for dialogue and action among the heroes, heroines and villains of this must-read trilogy.

Before Jamestown, the Pilgrims, and the American Colonies, came the New World settlement of Acadia by France in 1604. The Acadian town of Grand Pré is an insulated world of beautiful trees abundant harvests and affluent French residents at peace with their world and their allies, the Mi'Kmaq First Nation.
