Ethnic Conflict Management and Conflict Transformation
Regardless of the recognition method of macro-ethnic conflict management policy to respond to the past challenges, Ethiopia is facing new ethnic challenges like the controversy and conflict in: defining the ethnic identity, drawing inter-regional boundaries, socio-economic and political entitlement, armed secessionist ethnic insurgencies, intra-regional ethnic conflicts over resources and political empowerment. To study responses made against such challenges, by taking Derashe-Konso conflict management process in SNNPR, this book investigate transformative peace building. The book revealed that not only the constitutional macro-political decisions, but also micro-level ethnic conflict management processes are relevant to adapt transformative strategy of peace building. Further, the conflict management process should be able to address the root-causes, the needs and challenges of the communities, work to expand the connectors and reduce dividers, build trust and thereby to foster positive interaction and interdependence.
