Solids, Liquids, and Gases

In the Solids, Liquids, and Gases leveled reader, fundamental science facts in chemistry are explained through simply written text and colorful, fun illustrations. Young readers discover that water exists in three states: solid (ice), liquid, and gas (water vapor). Water is made of molecules that in turn are made of atoms. (Atoms and molecules are defined.) Water molecules have energy. (The physics terms energy, work, and force are defined.) The state of matter of water is determined by how much energy the molecules have. Ice molecules have the least energy and move around the least; water vapor molecules have the most energy and move around the most.
